After finding out about Maynooth Organics about 3 months ago by chance on Instagram, I finally went there today with my partner. I really don’t know why we didn’t manage to get there sooner, I guess the excuse of “being busy” often gets in the way of discovering such treasures. Maynooth Organics is a treasure hidden away right in the heart of the town. It’s located on the Moyglare Road, just a stone’s throw from St Mary’s Church and Maynooth Boy’s National School, with a small sign at the entrance that you will have to keep your eyes peeled for.
It is an organic market garden on a farm, which has a variety of fruit and vegetables that change according to the seasons. On our visit there we found carrots, cabbage, kale, shiraz mangetout, turnip, onions, beets, green and yellow courgette, rhubarb, cucumbers and many different varieties of lettuce just to name a selection. They also have ducks (and possibly chickens) roaming the grounds who provide free range eggs.
Needless to say that we left with an amazing selection of freshly picked vegetables to keep us busy in the kitchen for quite a while, and all for a reasonable price. We will definitely be returning and I would highly recommend visiting Maynooth Organics, especially if you live in the Maynooth/Kilcock/Celbridge/Leixlip/Lucan/Dunboyne area. I’m already anticipating our next visit.
*** I am not affiliated with Maynooth Organics. I have not and will not receive any financial or other benefit for this review. I just think they’re pretty awesome.
